TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The University of Alabama softball team moved up one spot in both the USA Today/NFCA Top-25 and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top-25 this week.
The Crimson Tide moved back to No. 2 in the NFCA poll, matching the program's highest ranking achieved earlier this season. They moved back to No. 3 in the USA Softball Top-25.
Bama went 4-1 last week with a doubleheader sweep over Louisiana Tech and a series win over No. 22 Georiga. The Bulldogs won the first game but UA stormed back with 19 runs in the next two for a pair of victories. On Tuesday night the Tide improved to 37-4 with wins over Northwestern State and Florida Atlantic.
The Tide has now been ranked in the Top-10 for 25 consecutive weeks and in the Top-25 in the last 69 polls.
Alabama will conclude this week with a three-game series against in-state rival Auburn. The Tide looks to stay in the hunt for their second straight SEC Championship as they play a doubleheader against the Tigers Friday at 5:30 p.m. The series will wrap up Saturday with a 2 p.m. start. All three games between the two Alabama schools will be televised live locally on WVUA and can be heard on WVUA Radio 90.7 or on the internet at www.rolltide.com.
