TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ?? The University of Alabama women’s basketball team completed its second week of practice today. The Tide closed out the grueling week of six practices with the Crimson and White scrimmage. Next week will mark the last string of practice before Alabama dives into exhibition play.
“After two weeks of practice I can see definite improvement in several areas,” head coach Stephany Smith said. “Going into week three we need to continue to improve on our communication and basic defensive principles. We will also implement our zone offense and defense.”
It was a busy week for the Tide as the team hosted an Appreciation Social for all the supporting staff, especially the cheer, dance and pep bands. Nathalie Reshard, Dedrea Magee and Tamara Williams visited University Place Elementary School to aid the school in drug prevention for Red Ribbon Week.
Thursday, Courtney Strauthers, Magee and coach Smith attended SEC Media Day with a practice that immediately followed. The Tide closed out the week with the Crimson and Red Scrimmage.
Alabama will take a much needed day off tomorrow and then practice straight through until the exhibition game. Alabama will host West Alabama on Wednesday, October 31 at 6 p.m. from Coleman Coliseum.
