TUSCALOOSA ?? The Crimson Tide women’s basketball team, coming off of a disappointing loss at South Carolina on Sunday afternoon, searches for its first league victory on Thursday night when it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to face the Lady Razorbacks in a Southeastern Conference contest. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena.
Alabama (10-9, 0-4) fell behind early and never recovered in its most recent outing on the road against the Gamecocks. The Tide made four field goals and shot 16.7 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes of the game, digging a hole that was impossible to climb out of. South Carolina poured it on in the second half and won the game going away, 95-35.
Kate Mastin led the Tide offensively, scoring eight points, while Talisha Chandler had seven in the loss. Tamara Williams pulled down five rebounds in the game to lead the team.
Arkansas (16-3, 1-2) looks for its second victory over a team from the state of Alabama in as many tries, as the Lady Razorbacks earned a three-point win over Auburn on Sunday afternoon. It was Arkansas’ first SEC victory, following losses at highly-ranked Vanderbilt and at home to Mississippi State.
The Tide won the last meeting between the teams, a one-point thriller in Tuscaloosa last January, but the ??Backs have won five of the last seven in the series, including the last two in Fayetteville.
Thursday night’s game between Alabama and Arkansas can be heard on the Crimson Tide Radio Network, with David Crane calling the action.
Alabama returns to Coleman Coliseum on Sunday, Jan. 21, when the Tide plays host to top-five LSU. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
