
Bama Baseball Ranked 24th by Rivals.com

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama has been ranked 24th by Rivals.com in their preseason Top 25 college baseball poll.
Alabama (44-21, 20-10 SEC) is coming off its league-leading 14th Southeastern Conference championship last season, which landed the Crimson Tide a Top 10 final ranking in 2006.
Coach Jim Wells begins his 13th season with the Crimson Tide this spring. He is Alabama's all-time winningest coach with a 522-246 (.680) record, including two Southeastern Conference championships (1996 and 2006), three SEC Western Division championships (1996, 2002 and 2006), three trips to the College World Series (1996, 1997 and 1999) and six SEC Tournament titles (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003).
In addition, Wells has taken 10 of his 12 Alabama teams to NCAA Regional play, with two teams advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals (1999 and 2006).
Overall, Wells has complied a 714-335 (.681) record his 17 previous seasons at the Division I level.
Alabama opens preseason practice on Monday, Jan. 15 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. All practices and scrimmages are open to the general public. The 2007 season opener is four weeks away as the Crimson Tide prepares for a three-game series with Georgia State, beginning Friday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. (CST).
