Alabama Softball legend Kelly Kretschman, a four-year All-American from 1998-2001, recently won the National Pro Fastpitch League’s batting crown, hitting .410 for the Connecticut Brakettes. She led the Brakettes team to a 27-15 record.
“We are so happy for Kelly,” Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy said. “To win a batting title in a professional league is quite an accomplishment. There were only two women who hit above .400 in the entire league. The next best hitter hit .354. Kelly’s .410 average is quite amazing.”
Kretschman and the Brakettes compete for the league title this weekend in Stratford, CT.
In addition to her collegiate and professional success, Kretschman won an Olympic gold medal as a part of the US Olympic Team at the 2004 Athens Games.
