Stephenson and Bentley Fall in NCAA Championships

PALO ALTO, Calif. ?? Alabama’s doubles team of Robin Stephenson and Ashley Bentley fell in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championship Thursday night to the nation’s No. 1-ranked team of Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey of Stanford.
Unlike during the regular season, doubles matches are played in a best-two-of-three format and Thursday’s battle needed all three sets.
Stephenson and Bentley captured the opening set from their top-seed opponents in a rather easy fashion, 6-2. However the duo wasn’t able to close the deal in the final two sets losing 5-7 and 1-6 to close out the match.
??Bama’s duo finishes the season at 27-9, the second most wins in a single season in school history. The duo finishes their career as the all-time winningest duo in Alabama history.
