TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore announced today that Chris Besanceney is the Crimson Tide's new assistant athletics director for ticketing and TIDE PRIDE. He joins the Tide staff after serving nearly two years as assistant athletics director for ticketing at The University of Tennessee. He replaces Rhoda Vaughn who retired in April.
Besanceney will be responsible for directing all aspects of the athletic department's ticket operations, with additional oversight of TIDE PRIDE.
"Chris has gained a tremendous amount of expertise in the area of ticket operations," said Moore. "His experience at several major universities handling multiple high profile sports with large season ticket issues will be a huge asset to The University of Alabama."
"I am proud to join the Alabama team," Besanceney said, "and be part of a university and athletics department with the tradition and class of The University of Alabama. I'm also very excited about working under Mal Moore's leadership."
Prior to his stint at Tennessee, Besanceney served as the head athletic ticket manager at Michigan State University from 2000-04, where he was responsible for all ticketing, including post-season ticketing and donor seating.
Prior to that, he served as assistant ticket manager at Michigan State and assistant ticket manager for the University of Missouri.
Besanceney earned his bachelor's degree in 1998 from Michigan State, where he served four years as a football manager under then head coach George Perles.
