
Tide Softball has Five Named All-South Region

Heading into this weekend’s NCAA Region 5 Championship, the fourth-ranked Alabama softball team was honored with five NFCA All-South Region performers as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association today.
Staci Ramsey (Third base), Brittany Rogers (Outfield) and Stephanie VanBrakle (Pitcher) were all named 1st Team performers while Chrissy Owens (Pitcher) and Jordan Praytor (Designated Player) were named to the 2nd Team.
Ramsey, an All-SEC performer, provides the power in the Crimson Tide lineup with a team best 10 home runs and 52 RBI. Her .569 slugging percentage is second on the team and in her 149 opportunities at third base, she has committed only six errors. Ramsey is making her first appearance on an All-Region team.
Rogers, who was named the SEC Freshman of the Year, leads the Alabama offense with a .427 average, 18th best in the country, and a team high .477 on-base percentage. Her 76 hits and 53 runs are also team highs. Rogers stole 31 bases this season placing her 14th in the nation with a 0.53 stolen base per game average.
VanBrakle, who was named the SEC Pitcher of the Year, ranks 10th in the country in strikeouts per seven innings (10.8), 17th in ERA (0.98) and 19th in wins (25). She threw the first perfect game in Alabama history this season while also breaking the all-time school strikeout record. VanBrakle is now a three-time All-Region selection.
Owens leads the Alabama pitching staff with a 0.68 ERA, which ranks third in the country. She is one win shy of her 20th victory of the season which would give Alabama its second straight season with two 20-game winners on its staff.
Praytor, who was named All-SEC, has been an offensive catalyst for Alabama all season. Her .400 average ranks second on the team as does her eight home runs. She has the top slugging percentage on the team at .642 and also ranks second on the team in stolen bases with 23. Her selection marks the second straight year she has been named All-Region.
The Crimson Tide opens NCAA Regional play on Friday when they host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Alabama Softball Stadium. The game will be preceded by the Georgia Tech-Florida A&M game, which is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Adult tournament passes are available for $25 while youth (15 and under) tournament passes are available for $15. Individual adult sessions are $10 while youth (15 and under) single sessions are $6. UA student single session tickets are available for $3.
