2006 (Freshman): Tiffin served as the backup placekicker and played in five games. He played for the injured Jamie Christensen in the first four games and also saw action late against Florida International. He finished the season 8-of-13 on field goals and 12-of-13 on extra point attempts. In his first collegiate game, he connected on 3-of-4 field goals. He followed with a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals against Vanderbilt with a career long of 47 yards. His 47-yard field goal with 7:34 remaining in the fourth quarter ended up being the game-winning kick. For his performance he was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 11. He made 2-of-3 field goals against Louisiana Monroe along with a career-high five point after touchdowns. Tiffin made a 46-yard field goal in his first collegiate road game at Arkansas. He also finished the season with three kickoffs for an average of 57.7 yards. He was named Alabama’s Special Teams Player of the Week in each of the first two games.
Prep: Selected to the All-Region team. His senior year at Muscle Shoals High School he made four of his five field goal attempts with a long of 50 yards. He also recorded touchbacks on 95-percent of his kickoffs.
Personal: Son of Van and Michelle Tiffin. Born 8-3-88. Has one sister, Shelby. His father, Van, was an All-American in 1986 at Alabama and holds the school record for the longest field goal (57 vs. Texas A&M in 1985) and the most career PAT’s (135-135). His mother, Michelle, also attended the University of Alabama.
