
Soccer to recognize YMCA coaches at halftime Friday night

Tuscaloosa, AL?? The University of Alabama women’s soccer team will welcome the greater Tuscaloosa area YMCA’s to the game on Friday against Mississippi State. A special halftime ceremony is planned to recognize all of the coaches from the local YMCA youth soccer programs. As a part of the halftime festivitie sthe University of Alabama's Crimson Cabaret will also perform.
President and CEO of the YMCA in Tuscaloosa Chris Hester has been working with Alabama head coach Don Staley since his return to the Tuscaloosa area a few months ago to make this night happen. “I am excited about our partnership with Coach Staley and the University of Alabama soccer program” Hester said. “I would love nothing more than watch someone grow up playing soccer in the YMCA program here in Tuscaloosa to go on and play under the lights in the Southeastern Conference at the University of Alabama.”
“We look forward to welcoming the 600-700 members of the YMCA to the Alabama Soccer Complex on Friday evening” Alabama coach Don Staley said. “Since Chris Hester’s arrival in Tuscaloosa we have seen dramatic changes to the youth soccer program. We are very excited to have him as a supporting member of soccer in his community.”
The Tide will face off against Mississippi State at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Alabama Soccer Complex.
