KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ?? The University of Alabama Soccer team fell to No. 16 Tennessee 4-0 Friday night in front of 601 fans at Regal Soccer Stadium.

“There is a reason that Tennessee is the four time champion in the Southeastern conference, and they showed that tonight.” head coach Don Staley said.“We played competitive soccer with the No. 16 team in the country in the first half, I liked our fight in the second half but we had a couple of miscues and Tennessee was able to take advantage.”

Alabama’s defense kept the game scoreless through the first half and but ten minutes into the second half Tennessee’s Emily Redburg dribbled past the Alabama defense and fired a shot from inside the six yard box into the left side of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Vols scored again seven minutes later when Kylee Rossi picked up the rebound on a save by Alabama keeper Kara Gudmens and knocked it into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Tennessee(9-4-3, 5-2-2 SEC) took a 3-0 lead at the 19:55 mark in the second half when Kylee Rossi scored her second goal of the night beating Gudmens to the top right corner. Three minutes later Tennessee added their fourth goal of the night past new goal keeper Brittni Lally.

The Tide (5-12, 1-8 SEC) will return for the final home game of the season on Sunday against the Georgia Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Alabama’s three seniors Emily Pitek, Gillian Killburn and Suzanne Baker will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony before their final home game.
