The University of Alabama football team opens the 111th season of this storied football program as the Crimson Tide hosts the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. The game will be televised in Alabama and Tennessee on a pay-per-view basis with kickoff set for 6:07 p.m. (CT). The game will also be available on DirecTV.
Alabama is coming off a 6-6 season last year which included a berth in the 2004 Music City Bowl. The Crimson Tide's berth in the Nashville-based bowl came despite losing its entire starting backfield during the course of the season.
The Middle Tennessee game is just the sixth season opener here at historic Bryant-Denny Stadium since the 1941 season. Alabama is 85-21-3 (.788) all-time in season openers and enters the 2005 season on a three-game winning streak on opening day.
Handling the announcing duties for the Crimson Tide Sports Network's pay-per-view telecast are David Crane (play-by-play), Tyler Watts (color) and Chris Stewart (sidelines). The game will also be aired on the 80-plus station Crimson Tide Sports Network with Eli Gold (play-by-play), Kenny Stabler (analyst) and Tom Roberts (sidelines) describing the action.
