2005-06 Schedule
The Alabama women’s golf team, getting set to compete for highly successful first-year head coach Mic Potter, has released its 2005-06 schedule. Potter, who comes to the Capstone after a legendary 23-year run at Furman, will look to lead the Tide to its eighth NCAA appearance after directing his former school to 15 NCAA Championship berths.
Alabama will open the fall portion of its schedule by hosting its own Ann Rhoads Invitational at the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa. The Tide will compete against 16 schools at the event, including SEC rivals Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The Ann Rhoads Invitational will begin on Sunday, Sept. 18 and conclude on Sept. 20.
The Crimson Tide will travel to the Mercedes-Benz Invitational, hosted by Tennessee on Oct. 21. The following weekend, Alabama goes to Destin, Fla., to compete in the FSU Lady Seminole Invitational. The fall season concludes with a trip to intrastate rival Auburn, when the Tide will play in the Auburn Derby Classic at the Auburn University Club.
The spring schedule opens on Feb. 19 at the Papa John’s Collegiate Invite at Don Shula’s Resort in Miami Lakes, Fla. Alabama will play in consecutive events hosted by SEC rivals, the Cleveland Golf Invitational hosted by LSU and the Sun Trust Lady Gator Invitational at the University of Florida on March 3-5 and March 11-12, respectively. The final regular season tournament for Alabama will be the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas on March 17-19 at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas.
The 2006 SEC Championship will be played on April 14-16 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Nashville, Tenn. The NCAA Regionals will be announced following the conclusion of the conference tournament, with the NCAA Championship being hosted by Ohio State University at the Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio on May 23-26.
