BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Alabama women’s golf team concluded play at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic on Sunday shooting a final round 309 at the LSU University Club.
Tide juniors Carina Sorensen and Audrey Gale both carded final rounds of 76 to lead the squad on Sunday The scores were the pair’s best rounds of the event. Senior Megan George, who posted a round of 78, was the team’s low finisher in the tournament earning a tie for 28th with a 228 total.

“We just gave away too many shots, especially around the greens,” said UA head coach Betty Palmer. “We had our chances, but we started extremely slowly on Friday. We have to work on getting out of the gates quicker. Overall, I was proud of the team’s efforts. There were definitely some things we can build on for the remainder of the year.”
LSU, the host team, completed their wire-to-wire victory finishing with a three-day total of 879. Tulane was second at 896 with North Carolina State (903), Vanderbilt (914) and Mississippi State (915) rounding out the Top Five team finishers. Alabama posted a 932 to place 14th at the event. Alabama concludes a stretch of three consecutive weekends of competition this coming weekend when the Tide travels to Athens, Ga., to participate in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Mar. 25-27 at the UGA Golf Course.
