Mabry Poellnitz Named 2005 University of Alabama Homecoming Queen

Mabry Poellnitz was crowned The University of Alabama's 2005 Homecoming Queen at halftime of Saturday's football game against Utah State.
Poellnitz, a senior finance major at the Capstone, is a member of Kappa Delta sorority. A native of Tuscaloosa, she was escorted by her father Bob Poellnitz and crowned by Governor Bob Riley and 2004 Queen Lacey Valeska.
Marverly Nettles, Divya Patel, Jessica Joyce Thomas and Sara-Catherine Thomason are the other members of this year's Homecoming Court.
The daughter of Harold and Cynthia Nettles, Marverly is a native of Birmingham and was escorted by her father. A senior on the women's basketball team, she is a criminal justice major. She was sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Board. Patel, a senior from Enterprise, was sponsored by Gamma Phi Beta sorority. A senior accounting major, she was escorted by her father Sam Patel.
Thomas, also a native of Birmingham, is a senior double-major in broadcast news and political science. The daughter of Carl and Deborah Thomas, she a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, and she was escorted by her father. Thomason is a native of Cullman and a senior theatre major. Sponsored by Alpha Psi Omega sorority, she is the daughter of James Thomason and Sarah Baker and was escorted by her father.
Former Alabama football player John Croyle was the Grand Marshall of Homecoming. The Homecoming Committee also awarded first, second and third place credentials to organizations' parade floats and lawn decorations. In the Lawn Decorations category, the College of Communication Ambassadors were awarded first prize, Baptist Campus Ministries finished second and the Wesley Foundation was third. Alpha Delta Pi sorority was named the winner of the Parade Competition. The Capstone College of Nursing finished second and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority was third.
