TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Hurricane Ivan, poised off Alabama's Gulf coast, has already impacted scheduled weekend activities at the Capstone.
"We have asked owners of motor home vehicles, who would normally access parking lots on Thursday afternoon, to not park on campus until 5 p.m. on Friday as long as campus lots are clear of debris," said Athletics Director Mal Moore. "We have been monitoring this hurricane and are well aware of its devastating power. We would like to play our Saturday football game with Western Carolina, but we will reassess our situation early Friday morning," Moore added.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to those individuals and families along the Gulf coast," Moore added.
Alabama's home soccer match with UAB has been postponed until a later date and a decision to host a cross country meet on Friday will be reached Wednesday morning. A women's golf tournament, hosted by Alabama, will continue with a practice round on Sunday and tournament play on Monday and Tuesday.
