Former Tide Basketball Player Cliff Windham Has Passed Away

TUSCAL00SA - Cliff Windham, Jr., an Emelle native who lettered for the University of Alabama men's basketball team for four seasons, has died in Amsterdam where he'd made a career playing and coaching overseas. Details of his death have not been released.
Windham, who turned 43 on April 22, was named to the Dutch Seizoen All-Star team in 1990-91. An all-state forward, he graduated from Livingston High School, once scoring 49 points in a 1979 game against Greensboro. Windham averaged 30.2 points and 14 rebounds his senior season at Livingston. He signed with C.M. Newton and the Crimson Tide, joining the freshman class at Alabama in the fall of 1979. Wimp Sanderson took over as head coach the following season. Alabama advanced to the NIT in 1980 and 1981 and the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1982. Windham averaged 7.8 points and 4.1 rebounds his senior season at Alabama in 1983, playing in all 32 games and starting in 24. He started in 30 of 31 games his junior season.
Among his teammates at Alabama were Indiana head coach Mike Davis, Buck Johnson, Bobby Lee Hurt, Jim Farmer, and Ennis Whatley.
