Alabama Qualifies Three Divers to NCAA Championships

The Alabama Swimming and Diving teams qualified three divers to the 2004 NCAA Championships during this weekend's NCAA Zone B Championships held in Athens, Ga.
Senior Lane Bassham finished second off the one-meter and fourth off the three-meter board to earn her fourth bid to the national championships. Bassham, who won the one and three-meter boards at the 2004 SEC Championships, is a seven time All-American. She was undefeated in both spring board events through the regular season and SEC Championships.
Sophomore Crystal Rasmussen earned her first trip to the championships by finishing fifth off the three-meter board and 12th off the one-meter. Rasmussen finished 16th off the platform. Freshman Jenna Hastreiter took seventh off the platform, but did not to advance to the NCAA Championships.
The women's NCAA Championships are March 18-20 in College State, Texas on the Texas A&M campus.
On the men's side, junior Aaron Ashworth earned one of the 13 bids available from Zone B after finishing seventh off the one-meter board, eighth off the three-meter and 11th off the platform.
The men's NCAA Championships are March 25-27 in East Meadow, NY in Goodwill Games Aquatic Center.
