NASHVILLE, TN - The second annual Resolution Run is slated for a start time of 10:00 a.m. on January 1st, 2005. Last year's run was the area's largest debut 5K with over 350 participants. As many as 1000 participants are expected in this year's event.
Building on a successful first year, organizers have increased efforts to make the event larger with more door prizes, medals to winners in all categories, and a traditional New Year's Day meal of black-eyed peas and cornbread after the race. Also new this year is the Corporate Challenge Division for teams from area businesses, and the "Drew Crew Challenge" for participants in Drew Bennett's "Drew Crew" charities. Awards are three deep in 5-year age categories, men's and women's. Also included is a wheelchair division.
The Resolution Run is one of the most scenic 5K races in the Nashville area.
The certified 5k (3.1 mile) course starts on Demonbreun Street at Hilton Park across from the Country Music Hall of Fame and proceeds across the Cumberland River. Runners loop around a portion of the Coliseum on Titans Way and Victory Avenue before, once again, crossing the Cumberland River via the Pedestrian Bridge.
Proceeds from the Resolution Run are used to provide direct services to individuals with all types of disabilities throughout Tennessee.
Preregistration is $20 for individuals and $50 for families up to three people. Race Day registration will be in the large white tent across from the Gaylord Entertainment Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. Race Day Registration is $25 for individuals and $65 for families.
