The 2003 NFCA All-American teams were announced and for the third straight season Jackie McClain's name was among the best of the best.
McClain, now a three-time NFCA All-American, was named a second-team performer. It was the third straight season she was named to the second team having achieved All-American status her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Ironically, McClain's All-American status marks the 13th time an Alabama player has received NFCA All-American recognition, the same number the Soddy Daisy, Tennessee native wears on her back.
McClain leads the team with a .365 average and 48 RBI and has helped lead the Crimson Tide to its second College World Series appearance in four years.
McClain and the Tide will take on the top-seeded Arizona Wildcats to open the 2003 Women's College World Series on Thursday at 10 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and can be heard in Tuscaloosa on 90.7 FM WVUA.
