TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama junior offensive guard Justin Smiley was recently recognized as a preseason All-America football player by several publications.
Smiley, a 6-4, 296-pound junior from Ellabell, Ga., was named first-team All-America by Playboy Magazine and by collegefootballnews.com. He was also rated the nation's No. 5 offensive guard by The Sporting News.
"Individual honors are great," Smiley said, "but we have to work together as a team to accomplish our goals. I think everyone on this team is ready to get back to work."
Smiley joins Wesley Britt and Evan Mathis as returning starters to the Tide offensive line in 2003. He has started 25 consecutive games during his Tide career.
