The University of Alabama held its May 2003 commencement, and head coach Mark Gottfried (center) cheered as two Crimson Tide senior basketball players were among the University of Alabama's graduates.
Terrance Meade (left) was awarded his diploma from the School of Business with a degree in management. Erwin Dudley (right) received his degree as a criminal justice major. Both men were starters all four years at Alabama.
Dudley's basketball legacy includes being named 2002 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and AP All-American. But both excelled off the court as well. Along with fellow starting senior Kenny Walker, who is due to graduate in August with a degree in communications, Meade and Dudley were named Academic All-SEC this season for their high grades in the classroom.
Meade, who served as president of the university's student-athlete advisory board, which represents hundreds of student-athletes at Alabama, was also named to the SEC Good Works Team in 2003 and was a Verizon All-District Academic All-American.
