TUSCALOOSA, ALA – Rain and severe weather brought a premature end to day three of the NCAA Region 8 Softball Tournament being held here this weekend. Only one game, UMass and Georgia Tech, was played, with UMass winning 2-0.
The tournament will pick up Sunday (May 18) at 9:30 a.m. in a game that will feature No. 1 seed Alabama and No. 6 seed Southern Illinois. No. 3 seed UMass will play the loser of the 9:30 a.m. game starting at approximately noon.
The day’s third game, which could decide the tournament champion, will get underway at 2:30 p.m. featuring the winners of the two earlier games. If a 15th game in the tournament is necessary, that game will be played on Monday.
