TIDE FACES WILDCATS IN REMATCH
The University of Alabama women's basketball team hopes to build on its winning ways when they play host to Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. It is the first of three rematch games for the Tide to conclude their regular season slate. Alabama lost a four-point decision (59-55) to UK in the pairs SEC opener on Jan. 12 in Lexington.
*Kentucky and Alabama are in a battle for SEC Tournament seeding and looking to build momentum heading into the event. UK has lost 6 of last 7 games while Bama has dropped 5 of its last 6.
*Both teams have posted wins over Ole Miss and Florida.
*The game features the SEC's top two long rangers as UK's Sara Potts leads the SEC with 2.52 treys per game and UA's Beth Vice is second at 2.50. Alabama also leads the league for threes made per game at 6.54.
*At 0-9, the Wildcats are in search of their first road victory of the year.
BAMA-KENTUCKY SERIES NOTEBOOK
*This is the 28th all-time meeting between the Tide and Wildcats. The pair first met in 1978, and have met every season since 1985. (see p.2 for complete series game results)
*The Crimson Tide owns a slight 14-13 lead in the all-time series following UK's win earlier this year... UA head coach Rick Moody is 9-8 versus the Cats and 5-5 in his head-to-head meetings with Kentucky head coach Bernadette Mattox.
*UK has won 5 of the last 8 meetings in the series but neither team has won by more than 7 points during that stretch. UA has won 5 of last 6 games played in Tuscaloosa.
*Bama's Beth Vice was the 1998 Kentucky "Miss Basketball" and today marks her final scheduled appearance against her home state squad. Vice is 1-4 (1-1 in Tuscaloosa) against Kentucky but scored the winning points in UA's lone win.
*UK's Stephanie Stumbo, a freshman from Hoover HS in Birmingham, is the lone Alabama native on the Kentucky roster.
