Alabama Volleyball Sweeps Mississippi State, 3-0

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The University of Alabama volleyball extended their Southeastern Conference win streak to six matches with a 3-0 (30-27, 30-21, 30-21) sweep over Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon.
The victory, Bama's 10th consecutive over the Bulldogs, upped UA's season mark to 15-12 overall and 9-5 in the league. MSU falls to 3-21 and 2-12. With the win, Alabama also takes sole possession of third place in the SEC heading into the final week of play.
Junior Erin Heffner led a strong Alabama offensive performance with 19 kills and a .325 hitting percentage. Jennifer Bibber added 11 kills for the Tide and senior setter Erin Price hit a perfect 100 percent from the floor with six kills in six attempts. Price is now only three kills away from 1,000 for her career.
Defensively, junior Kory Tull was the UA backrow catalyst posting 18 digs in just three games. Kelley Potter recorded 12 kills and Price totaled 10. Price was also the team's blocking leader, finishing with four block assists. Her block total allowed her to become just the second UA player to have over 300 block assists in her career.
"I thought we played very good team volleyball today," said UA head coach Judy Green. "The key to our success was definitely our serving and passing. We also did a good job digging a lot of balls. We are playing pretty well heading into the final week of the regular season."
The Tide tallied 10 aces in the contest, marking the eighth time this season that they have reached double digit aces. Bibber was the squad's top server finishing with a season best five aces.
Nicole Broome was the lone Bulldog in double figures scoring 10 kills in the loss. MSU senior Danika Taylor had 20 digs.
The MSU match marked the final regular season road match for the Tide, Alabama concludes their regular season slate with a pair of home matches this week. Bama hosts in-state rival Auburn on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The match has been designated as "Cram the CAVE" night with the first 500 fans in attendance getting a free T-Shirt and chicken sandwich.
