The Crimson Tide held the Aggies to their third-lowest hitting percentage of the season
COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The Alabama volleyball team (8-4, 0-3 SEC) fell to No. 14 Texas A&M (9-5, 2-0 SEC) in three sets (18-25, 22-25, 19-25) on Friday night at Reed Arena. The Crimson Tide matched the Aggies with 12 blocks and held them to their third lowest-hitting percentage of the season.
There were plenty of positives to take away from the match that Alabama hopes to carry into the rest of the weekend. Lily Gervase had an amazing defensive performance, recording a career-high eight blocks. Addsion Engel and Kaleigh Palmer each finished with four blocks which heavily contributed to Alabama's season high of 12 rejections. The Crimson Tide ended up holding the Aggies to a .167 hitting percentage.
Palmer led the team with seven kills as Laney Hennessee trailed right behind her with six. The junior setter Hannah Parant recorded a season-high five kills for the fourth time this year, adding 18 assists and six digs.
From Head Coach Rashinda Reed
"I was really proud of our team today. I think it was a nice response from our last match, even though it's not ideal losing in three sets. Right now, we're just thinking about the journey, and I felt like they came out confident, positive and there's a lot of positive things defensively that we did. Now the next phase of our game is working on point scoring and executing a little bit more because I felt like if we would have done that, who knows what the game would've looked like."
