The 2002 Alabama Tennis Playday, hosted by the men and women’s tennis teams, was a success as over 100 people came to meet the teams and participate in tennis drills on Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
“I thought the Playday was a huge success,” UA head women’s tennis coach Jenny Mainz said. “We achieved our goals of getting the community involved and meeting our teams.”
The women’s team will start its fall competition on September 27-29 when they host the Roberta Alison Classic in Tuscaloosa. The men begin on September 20-22 at the UVA Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“It was a great opportunity for our team to get actively involved in the community and give something back,” Mainz said.
The Crimson Tide will be hosting another Tennis Playday on Sunday, January 19, from 3-5 p.m. The January Playday will serve as a “kick-off” to the spring dual match seasons for the men and the women. More information will be available on this event at rolltide.com as the event time approaches.
