2005 SEC Defensive Player of the Week vs. Florida
2005 (Senior): Mark started 29 consecutive games and played in 50 games during his Tide career. Anderson earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after getting four tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble in the Tide’s 31-3 win over then fifth-ranked Florida. He finished the 2005 season seventh on the tackle chart with 40 stops, but he was first in sacks with 7.5 for 42 yards. He was also first on the team with 18 total stops behind the line for 62 yards. He also had a team-high seven quarterback pressures and one forced fumble and he blocked a field goal in the Tide’s 13-10 win over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. Anderson had six tackles against Southern Miss for his season high, and had four each against Middle Tennessee, Florida, Utah State and Auburn. His 24.5 career tackles for loss ranks 7th on the Tide’s career chart. Mark earned his Consumer Science degree in December, 2005.
2004 (Junior): Mark was a starter in every game and finished as the Tide's eighth-leading tackler with 41 stops. He had 11 tackles behind the line for 40 yards and 1.5 sacks for nine yards. His eight quarterback pressures were tops on the team and he also had two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups. He had a season-high five tackles against Arkansas, Mississippi State and LSU. He had two stops behind the line against Arkansas and Auburn. He played a total of 516 snaps with a season-high 60 in the Auburn contest.
2003 (Sophomore): Mark saw action in every game and he earned starts in six, including the final five games of the season. He finished with a total of 610 snaps, getting 70 against LSU. He had 48 tackles, eight stops behind the line and 2.5 sacks. He also had seven quarterback pressures. He had a career-high seven tackles against Southern Miss, Ole Miss and LSU. He had at least one tackle for a loss in six of the final eight games of the season. Mark earned the “Billy Neighbors Most Improved Defensive Lineman” award following spring practice.
2002 (Freshman): Playing in every game, Mark had 13 tackles on the season, including two sacks (15 yards) and one stop behind the line (two yards). He also forced two fumbles and had one recovery. Mark played a total of 118 snaps on the season with a season-high 20 against Georgia. His fumble recovery came against Georgia. During spring practice, Tide coaches moved Mark from defensive end to linebacker where he finished behind Brooks Daniels at the rover position. He responded well enough to earn the “Ozzie Newsome Most Improved Freshman” award.
2001 Redshirted
Prep: A two-way player for Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School, Mark played for coach Antwain Jimmerson. As a defensive player, he made 104 tackles and nine quarterback sacks his senior season, as the Hornets went 11-2. He also caught nine passes, three for touchdowns. In one game, he had two blocked punts, three sacks and 20 tackles. He was a team captain and was an All-Metro and Big-12 Prep pick. Mark also played basketball.
Personal: The son of Frank and Connie Anderson, Mark has an older brother, Rodney, and sister Tracey Blocker. Born 5-26-83. He is a Consumer Science major.
