One of the young linebackers who will work into the rotation this fall, Marcel finished behind Juwan Simpson and Demarcus Waldrop at the Will linebacker spot.
2004 (Freshman): Playing in every game, Marcel finished with 168 snaps on the season, including a season-high 28 against Western Carolina. He began the season at split end, but was moved to weak linebacker when the Tide experienced injuries and depth problems at that position. He had nine tackles on the season, including two in teach of the first three games of the season. He blocked a punt, which he returned for 14 yards and a touchdown against Western Carolina.
Prep: Stamps was a two-time All-State player and served as student council president. He was a member of Key Club and worked on the yearbook staff at Brantley High School. Stamps helped lead the Bulldogs to the 1A state playoff quarterfinals before losing to eventual state runner-up American Christian. Stamps finished the 2003 season with 39 catches, 796 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense. He also starred as a linebacker at Brantley, recording 96 tackles with two forced fumbles and two recovered fumbles.
Personal: Marcel is the son of Shelia McTear and he has two sisters, Shayla and Bridgett. Born 4-12-85. He is in pre-major studies.
