Earning the Bobby Johns Most Improved Defensive Back Award following spring practice, Simeon will be counted upon in nickle-back situations and will provide valuable back-up help to Ramzee Robinson. The experience gained by playing in 11 games last year should have tremendous carry-over into the 2005 season.
2004 (Freshman): Simeon played in 11 of the Tide's 12 games, missing playing time against Arkansas with a bruised right knee. He finished the season with 14 tackles, two stops behind the line for six yards and one sack for five yards. He had two interceptions for 34 yards and 4 pass break-ups. He had three tackles against Utah State and LSU, including one sack against LSU. Simeon had an interception in his first collegiate game against Utah State. He returned that interception 31 yards.
Prep: Briarwood Christian All-American defensive back Simeon Castille helped lead his school to the class 5A state title in 2003. He was a first-team USA Today All-American and Super All-State pick after rushing for 540 yards and six touchdowns on 98 carries in his senior year. Castille was chosen to the Birmingham News' Super Seniors list. He added 21 receptions for 350 yards and one TD. On the defensive side of the ball, Simeon had 60 tackles and nine interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Simeon announced his commitment to the Tide on national TV while playing in the U.S. Army All-America Game in San Antonio, Texas. He was listed by SuperPrep as the No. 11 player in Alabama and the No. 30 defensive back nationally and was the ASWA class 5A Back of the Year. He was also a third-team member of the Fox Sports Net All-South team.
Personal: Simeon is the son of Jean and Jeremiah Castille. His brother, Tim, also plays for the Tide as did his father (1979-82, All-American). He has a younger brother, Caleb and younger sisters, Leah, Rachel and Danielle. Born 10-12-85. He is a Communications major.
