In honor of National Athletic Training Month this March, the University of Alabama would like to honor a key ingredient of its athletic family -- ATCs.
This March, certified athletic trainers across the nation are being recognized for their dedication and commitment to providing quality health care for athletes at all levels. ATCs are highly educated and can be found everywhere in sports, from the professional ranks to high schools. The University of Alabama would like to salute the ATCs for providing quality health care for our athletes every day.
Thanks for all you do, and, Happy National Athletic Training Month!
Celebrate national Athletic Training Month this March by following these very important injury-prevention tips while participating in sports:
- Before participating, see your physician for a physical exam
- Make sure you are in proper condition before starting any strenuous activity
- Drink 7-10 ounces of water or sports drink every ten to twenty minutes during activity
- Warm up prior to exercise, AND FINALLY
- Make sure you have access to an ATC--that's a certified athletic trainer
If you have any questions about how to avoid injuries this season, make sure to ask the expert. ATCs--certified athletic trainers--specialize in injury prevention and treatment for the physically active and can help you stay in the game. Avoid injury and stay active--A message from the National Athletic Trainers' Association in celebration of National Athletic Training Month, March 2002.
