Women's Tennis Finishes Day One of South Regional

The University of Alabama women's tennis had seven players play singles on Friday in the first round of the Omni Hotels South Region Championships in Troy, Alabama.
Due to rain, only the first two rounds of singles draw "A" were played on Friday. The Crimson Tide has seven players in draw "A".
Marie-France Lord-Andrade lost 6-4, 6-3 to Troy State's Luisa Lopez in the first round. Bama's Robin Stephenson was defeated by Viktoria Stoklosova of South Alabama 6-3, 6-2. UA's Natalie McElveen lost 6-0, 6-0 to Florida's Alexis Gordon.
Alabama junior Millie Begovic won her first and second round match. In the first round, Begovic won 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 over Natascha Immele of UAB. Begovic defeated Jennifer Hodge 6-2, 6-1 in round two. Sophie Cremers won 6-0, 6-1 over Sihem Bennacer of Miami in round one. In round two, Cremers lost 6-2, 6-2 to Lori Grey in round two. UA’s Nathalie Koppelle lost in round one to Julia Scaringe of Florida 7-5, 6-2. Ashley Bentley was defeated by Dominika Nemcovicova of South Alabama in round one 6-3, 7-6.
Play will continue tomorrow at Troy State’s Lansford Tennis Center. Doubles play and singles draw “B” will get underway tomorrow.
