Alabama Soccer Hosts Conference Home Opener

The University of Alabama soccer team (10-2, 1-1 SEC) will host its first two home conference matches of the season this weekend, welcoming the Ole Miss Rebels (9-1-1, 1-1 SEC) on Friday night and the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-8, 1-1 SEC) Sunday afternoon.
Ranked ninth regionally, Alabama is off to the best start in school history. The Tide leads each series, holding a 5-3 record against the Rebels and a 6-1 record against the Bulldogs respectively.
Junior Dawn Nash leads way offensively for the Tide in both points and goals with 27 points and 10 goals respectively. She needs only five points and two goals to tie the Alabama single season school records in each category. The Cooper City, Florida native has scored points in eight straight games for Alabama.
Also on a hot streak for Alabama is Katie Holtzapfel. The junior from Florence, Kentucky has scored goals in four of Alabama's last five matches.
Ole Miss comes into Friday night's contest led by redshirt freshman Kelly Renie who is second in the SEC in both points with 27 and goals with 12. Mississippi State is led by sophomore Jessi Moore. Moore leads the Bulldogs in assists with six, points with 16 and is tied for the team lead in goals scored with five.
The Ole Miss match begins at 7:00 p.m. while Sunday's match with Mississippi State gets underway at 1:00 p.m. Live scoring for both games will be available on the web at www.rolltide.com. Admission to the matches is free.
