Ryan Grubb reunited with head coach Kalen DeBoer when he joined the Alabama coaching staff in February of 2025. Grubb was hired to serve as offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide.
A veteran play-caller and one of the top minds in all of football, Grubb possesses a wealth of knowledge that has produced high-powered and innovative offenses at every stop. His resumé includes 10-plus combined years as an offensive coordinator, split across the collegiate and high school levels along with the National Football League.
Alabama - Offensive Coordinator (2025-Present)
- Rejoined DeBoer's Alabama staff as the offensive coordinator for the 2025 season
- Grubb's first order of business was identifying a starting quarterback, with Ty Simpson becoming the clear choice midway through fall camp
- Simpson settled in quickly, earning permanent team captain status and showing the poise and precision of a multi-year starter
- The Martin, Tenn., native finished the '25 campaign with 3,567 passing yards and 28 touchdowns to rank second in the Southeastern Conference and top-12 nationally in both categories
- Simpson's yards and touchdowns also placed him in the top-10 of Alabama's all-time single-season records
- The Tide's quarterbacks as a unit averaged 263.5 passing yards per game to rank fourth in the league and top-30 nationally
- Alabama's signal-callers spread the wealth, connecting with 22 different players, including 10 with 11-plus catches on the season
- A total of 11 different pass-catchers registered at least one touchdown reception with six of those tallying two-or-more scores
- Ball control was key to the '25 team's success, as the Tide maintained possession for 31:32 to finish fourth in the SEC and top-30 nationally and improved on that number with a 33:20 mark in league games to finish second
- The offense also committed just 13 turnovers across 15 games, good for top-25 nationally and the fourth-fewest giveaways in the conference, while throwing only two interceptions in conference games, the fewest by any of the league's 16 member teams
Seattle Seahawks - Offensive Coordinator (2024)
- Spent the 2024-25 season as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks
- Seattle ranked fifth in the NFL for passing yards in 2024-25 with 4,379, including 4,320 from Geno Smith
- Smith, in his 11th season, set career-high marks for yards, completions (407) and completion percentage (70.4) while totaling 21 passing scores, good for the second-most of his career
- The veteran signal-caller also set the single-season franchise records for passing yards, completions and completion percentage
- Smith's favorite target, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, led Seattle and tied for ninth in the NFL with 100 receptions for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns
- Smith-Njigba's 100 receptions matched Seattle's franchise single-season high mark
Washington - Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks (2022-23)
- Served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under DeBoer at Washington from 2022-23
- In 2023, UW made it to the College Football Playoff National Championship, thanks in large part to its offensive production
- Grubb helped Michael Penix Jr. earn the Maxwell Award with a record-setting season that saw the quarterback throw for 4,903 yards and 36 touchdowns while maintaining a 157.1 passer rating
- Penix Jr.'s favorite target, Rome Odunze, caught a team-high 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns as both players earned first team All-America honors and went on to be first-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft

- The Bulldogs generated over 400 yards of offense in all six games during the pandemic-shortened season, marking the first time since 2011 that FSU had a streak of six straight contests with 400-plus yards of offense
- Grubb was the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2019 and the run game coordinator and offensive line coach from 2017-18
- The '19 campaign marked a second consecutive season and the then-fourth time in a decade that the FSU offense averaged 30-plus points per gameÂ
- Fresno averaged 360.0 yards of total offense, including 159.2 on the ground and 226.8 through the air in 2019
