Alabama Remains Undefeated with Sunday Shutout over Nebraska

The Crimson Tide earns first shutout of the season, Roni scores first career brace
LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 18 Alabama remains undefeated on the young season after posting a 2-0 shutout Sunday afternoon against Nebraska.
The shutout is Alabama's (4-0-0) first of the season, holding an aggressive Nebraska (1-1-2) offense scoreless while Ashley Roni earned her first career brace, scoring both Crimson Tide goals against the Huskers. Madi Munguia tallied a season-high five saves behind a backline that maintained the clean sheet against 22 Nebraska shots, including a great diving save on a penalty kick attempt in the second half.
Roni got the Tide on the board less than two minutes into the game, poking one in from about eight yards out off of the pass from Kiley Kukan. Nebraska kept the pressure in Alabama's defensive third for the majority of the first half but Munguia and the Tide backline were ultimately able to keep it a 1-0 ballgame heading into halftime.
In the 49th minute just after the start of the second half, the Huskers earned a penalty kick opportunity looking to even up the score. Mungia made a great diving save to the left post, getting one hand on the ball to deflect it for the crucial save. Just four minutes later, a great pass from Zamorah Malinoski was received by Roni as she headed it into the opposite corner for her second goal of the day to make it 2-0.

"That was a great win today against a very good Nebraska team. I don't think it was our best soccer, but I love the fact that we've shown we can win in different ways. We scored a great goal early and then hung on. We showed a lot of toughness and grit today. Madi's PK save was massive and Ashley Roni continues to score goals! I'm so proud of the effort today."
