Jenny Sanders, who was hired as the program's Director of Operations on Monday, July 24, 2023, will begin her third season in the same role with the Crimson Tide in 2025-26. Sanders is in the midst of her 16th year overall working in Alabama Athletics.
Sanders spent the 2022-23 seasons serving as the Crimson Tide's Director of Player Development. In that role, she assisted with all aspects of the program from operations to academics. Her two-year stint in that role was highlighted by her helping Andrew Pinckney earn SEC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the 2023 regular season.
Prior to her role working directly with Crimson Tide baseball, she served as an Academic Program Advisor for UA Athletics. In that position, she oversaw all facets of academics for the Alabama baseball, women's golf, softball and men's tennis teams, providing her student-athletes with comprehensive academic counseling to help them meet their academic goals. Included in Sanders' tasks were developing support plans for first-year and at-risk student-athletes, observing progress and maintaining up-to-date records, and monitoring the continuing eligibility of the student-athletes across her respective sports.
While in academics, Sanders also coordinated submissions of all NCAA and SEC awards along with scholarship opportunities. She helped her student-athletes earn a combined 20 CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, including four academic All-American of the Year accolades. She helped softball's Kaylee Tow become the program's first ever Elite 90 winner in 2019 while also guiding Haylie McCleney to a Boyd McWhorter scholarship and the Top X award in 2015.
With the baseball program, Sanders helped the Tide set a program-high mark for combined grade-point average during the 2017-18 season. The future rosters then improved upon that number each year until her promotion to the baseball staff, finishing the 2021-22 season with a then-program-high GPA. During that stretch, she helped Alabama garner at least one academic all-district honoree across four consecutive seasons from 2020-23, including an Academic All-American in Owen Diodati in 2022. Prior to that time, the Crimson Tide baseball program had not been represented on an Academic All-District Team since 2011 and had not earned Academic All-America honors since 2007.
A member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), Sanders graduated from The University of Alabama in 2009 with a Master's in Sport Management. She obtained her undergraduate degree from UA in psychology in 2008.
