Emily Orrick enters her first season as Alabama volleyball's director of operations in 2019.
Orrick previously worked alongside head coach Lindsey Devine at ETSU as a graduate assistant for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
The Bucs made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances during her two years with the team, including the program's highest win total in in 35 years in 2018. ETSU earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Tournament, the first team in Southern Conference history to do so.
Before joining the staff at ETSU, Orrick was a standout volleyball player at Illinois State, where she played two seasons. She appeared in all 33 matches and 124 sets during her senior year and earned AVCA All-America honorable mention honors and AVCA All-Region accolades. She was an All-MVC First-Team selection in each of her two seasons and MVC Libero of the Year, as well as being named to the MVC Championship All-Tournament Team. She set multiple Illinois State records for on defense, including digs in a match (42) and digs in a season (732), while ranking third among NCAA Division I players in digs-per-set. Orrick also concluded her career with records for digs-per-set in a season (5.90) and a career (5.39). She also finished her career ranked sixth in school history in career digs (1,304), despite playing for just two seasons. Orrick was a five-time MVC Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2014 and was a Senior CLASS Award nominee.
Orrick helped lead the Redbird volleyball team to a 27-6 record in 2014. The team won 23-consecutive matches from Sept. 12 to Dec. 4 and captured the program's first MVC regular-season and tournament titles since 1997. The team also won the program's first NCAA Tournament match since 1997, and the first in program history away from Redbird Arena.
Prior to her time at ISU, Orrick played two seasons at Lincoln Land Community College where she was a two-time NJCAA All-America, all-region, and all-conference selection. She was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2011 and holds the LLCC career digs record with 2,048. Orrick was the first two-time All-American in program history and was inducted into LLCC’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
Orrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Illinois State University in 2015 and a Master of Science in Sport Management from East Tennessee State University in 2019.
