Gerhard Gruindelingh will enter his first season with the Alabama women's tennis program during the 2026-27 campaign after being named assistant coach by head coach Jonatan Berhane on June 13.

"We welcome Gerhard and his family to Alabama, and we are excited to have him as part of our team," said Berhane. "Gerhard has had a lot of success at Duke and understands what it takes to be a top team in the nation. I look forward to working with him as we continue to build our program."

Duke - Assistant Coach (2023-26)

Aided in leading the team to finish the 2025-26 season nationally ranked at No. 14 as the team finished 20-8 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals
Made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances with the Blue Devils as the team's longest run came in 2025 (quarterfinals)
Helped Duke to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title in 2025 with a perfect 12-0 conference ledger
The ACC regular season crown marked the first for the Blue Devils since 2018
Assisted in coaching Duke to finish the 2024-25 season ranked top five in the nation
Aided in the development of 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year honoree Shavit Kimchi
Coached a total of 18 ITA Scholar-Athlete and18 ACC All-Academic selections during his three seasons in Durham, N.C.

Coached the Jaggars to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference finals, including winning the championship in 2019 to advance to the NCAA Tournament
Four-year letterwinner at South Alabama after compiling 60 singles victories during his tenure
Two-time All-Sun Belt Conference honoree in doubles (2015, first team; 2014, second team)
Earned his bachelor's degree in business management in 2017, before going back to earn his master's degree in health education in 2019 from USA
