A former professional soccer player for the Chicago Red Stars and striker for the University of Arkansas, Ashleigh Ellenwood joined the Alabama coaching staff as its volunteer coach in the spring of 2022.
Ellenwood coached for three seasons at Lewis University, serving as an assistant coach for the Flyers from 2016-18. During her tenure, Lewis recorded 23 wins and earned a berth to the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
The Michigan City, Ind., native was a standout for the Razorbacks, concluding her career in 2015 as the program's fourth-best all-time goal scorer, netting 30 goals over her four years. By the end of her senior year, Ellenwood ranked second in program history for game-winning goals with 10, second all-time in assists with 23 and third all-time in career points with 83. Ellenwood was selected to join the National Women's Soccer League in 2016, becoming the first player in Arkansas history to drafted into the NWSL. She competed in both the 2016 and 2017 season for the Chicago Red Stars.
Ellenwood concluded her collegiate career as a two-time SEC honoree, a CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 6 First Team honoree and CoSIDA Capital One Third Team Academic All-American honoree. She was also one of just 24 players to attend the 2014 U.S. National Team Camp in Seattle.
