Martha King begins her first season as Director of Player Development this year after serving as the Crimson Tide's Graduate Assistant during the 2010-11 season.
In her role as Director of Player Development, King serves as President of the Crimson Tide Hoops Squad, the official booster club of the Alabama women's basketball team, in addition to coordinating film exchange, overseeing the 5th Grade Fastbreak program, serving as the team liaison with Athletes in Action and overseeing community service endeavors for the team.
King has a strong background in basketball and sport management. As the graduate assistant for Alabama, she was responsible for the team's film exchange while also assisting with practice, game day, and other basketball operations.
A 2008 graduate of Trinity University with degrees in marketing and speech communication, King has been involved in and coached numerous youth basketball clinics and camps through the SEC and NCAA. She has worked with the SEC Basketball Youth Clinic, Birmingham Southern College's basketball camps, University of Alabama high school basketball camps and the NCAA Women's Final Four Yes! Youth Clinic. She headed up Better Basics, her own youth basketball and health awareness clinic for underprivileged elementary children. King also worked with USOC Warrior Games where she organized and assisted with the Military Paralympic games.
During her four years at Trinity, she earned a place in the record books coming in ninth for the most blocks during a season with 49, and coming in fourth for the most career blocks with 136. King was named MVP of the Springfield College Holiday Tournament and served as team captain and team chaplain her senior year. In 2009, Trinity advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 after winning the SCAC Conference Championship. King was chosen by coaches and staff to represent women's basketball on the Trinity University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
King graduated from Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, Ala. The daughter of Pat and Dorie King, she has an older sister Val, a younger sister Fran, and a dog named Bear Bryant.
