Scott Limbaugh
- Title:
- Men's Golf Assistant Coach
Scott Limbaugh is in his fifth season as the Crimson Tide[apos]s assistant golf coach after an extremely successful tenure as the head coach at Huntingdon College from 2005-07.
Limbaugh brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and a former collegiate golfer. He is also the Director of the Alabama Golf Academy and the Tide[apos]s recruiting coordinator.
He has teamed with Seawell to produce one of the most successful periods in Alabama golf history. The Tide has qualified for the NCAA Tournament each year since he arrived and the NCAA Championships in three of those years.
Limbaugh has helped tutor five All-American since 2008, including two first team selections -- Michael Thompson and Bud Cauley. Both Thompson and Cauley were named to Palmer Cup teams and Cauley became just the second Tide player selected to the Walker Cup in 2009.
His recruiting prowess has also been impressive, helping coordinate and land three top-10 recruiting classes according to Golfweek. The 2010 class, that included Cory Whitsett and Bobby Wyatt, was a consensus top-two class while Justin Thomas was a top-five player nationally in 2011.
Limbaugh is also the director of the Crimson Tide Open, which is Alabama[apos]s annual golf fundraiser for boosters and alumni.
Hired in July of 2007, Limbaugh was the head golf coach at Huntingdon (Ala.) College for three years (2005, 2006 and 2007) before joining the Crimson Tide[apos]s coaching staff.
Limbaugh, a Childersburg, Ala., native, was the 2005-06 Eaton/Golf Pride South Region NCAA Division III Coach of the Year. He coached Huntingdon to a fourth-place NCAA Division III men[apos]s golf finish in 2007, which was its best finish in school history. It was Huntingdon[apos]s third straight NCAA appearance as Limbaugh[apos]s teams qualified in all three of his seasons as head coach.
His first Huntingdon team in 2005 finished ninth before the 2006 team finished 15th. His 2006 team was ranked No. 1 for almost the entire season in Division III.
He produced three All-Americans during his time at Huntingdon, including Alex Balog, Jacob Collinsworth and Matt Mahanic. Collinsworth was a first-team selection after finishing second individually at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Limbaugh played collegiately for the Huntingdon Hawks for two seasons after helping lead Central Alabama Community College capture two NCAA Junior College National Championships. Limbaugh was a co-captain on that 2000 National Champion team for Central Alabama. As a golfer at Huntingdon, he competed at nationals and was team captain in 2002.
He is a 2003 graduate of Huntingdon College and was hired as Huntingdon[apos]s assistant golf coach upon graduation. He was elevated to head coach in June of 2004.
Limbaugh married the former Kate Mastin on July 18, 2009. The couple welcomed their first child , Malley, in February.
