Blake Gray is in his second season as the director of player development and his fourth season as part of the Alabama men’s basketball staff. Prior to his current role, Gray spent two seasons as graduate manager for the men’s basketball team, where he played a role in film breakdown, opponent scouting, overseeing managers, recruiting mail outs and other duties as assigned by the coaching staff.
In Gray’s new role, he is responsible for the monitoring and coordination of the players’ complete schedules, both on and off the court. Gray also assists the coaching staff in game preparation, video evaluation and player development edits, while aiding in the formulation of game plans and scouting reports, among other duties.
Gray is no stranger to the Crimson Tide program, as he spent four years as a student manager, including his last two seasons as one of the head managers. In that role, Gray helped coordinate schedules for practice times and individual workouts. He was also in charge of scheduling, practice set up and anything else assigned by the coaching staff.
During the summer of 2013, Gray spent time as an intern at Nike Headquarters where he worked primarily with the Jordan Brand Global marketing team.
The Huntsville, Ala., native earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Alabama, receiving his bachelor’s in accounting in 2014 and his master’s in sports management in 2015. Gray recently completed a second master’s degree in marketing analytics, graduating in May of 2017.
