Sean Stryker joined the Alabama baseball program in the fall of 2017 and recently completed his fourth season with the Crimson Tide in 2021 after spending two years at Auburn from 2016-17.
Stryker’s stint at Auburn spanned two seasons under head coach Butch Thompson. During his time on the Plains, the Tigers went from 8-22 in conference and 23-33 overall in 2016 to 37-26 mark, including a 16-14 SEC record on the way to an NCAA Regional appearance in 2017. Stryker’s time in Auburn was highlighted by the rehabilitation of third-round pick Keegan Thompson, who came back from Tommy John surgery in 2015 to have a career year in 2017, going 7-4 with a 2.41 ERA across 15 starts as the ace of the Tigers’ pitching staff.
Prior to his time at AU, Stryker spent the 2015 season working with head coach Brad Bohannon, then an assistant, at Kentucky as the baseball program’s head athletic trainer. During his time in Lexington, Stryker handled all daily evaluation, coordination, implementation, treatment and rehabilitation for the Wildcats’ baseball team.
The Oak Ridge, N.J., native began his postgraduate career with the Baltimore Orioles in 2013 and 2014 as a staff athletic trainer. While with the Orioles, Stryker assisted the head and assistant athletic trainers with all duties related to daily prevention, evaluation and treatment of injuries.
Stryker earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Penn State in 2012. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in sports medicine from Delaware in 2014. While at Delaware, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, working primarily with the baseball program.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Southeast Atlantic Trainers’ Association, Stryker married the former Samantha Maron of Wharton, N.J. The couple was married in July of 2016.
