Life Skills - Personal Growth
The personal growth aspect of the Life Skills program assists student-athletes in cultivating skills needed to balance academic and athletic commitments, make critical life decisions, and become world-class individuals through workshops, programs, and speakers.
Distinguished Speakers
Each year, student-athletes hear from notable and highly respected speakers who share a message focused on leadership and empowerment, or focused on relevant student-athlete welfare topics, such as mental health, sexual responsibility, and positive decision making.
Financial Literacy
A common area of stress for many college students, Life Skills organizes practical financial education opportunities to assist student-athletes in learning the knowledge and skills to effectively manage their monetary resources. Topics include budgeting, saving, goal setting, smart spending, credit building, and identify theft.
ProjectTUSK
Standing for Together in Unity and Strengthened Knowledge, ProjectTUSK is focused on promoting diversity among student-athletes and creating a culture of inclusive excellence. Throughout their career at Alabama, student-athletes will have the opportunity to expand their understanding of diverse perspectives through interactive workshops, monthly topical discussions, and international cuisine from various countries. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Alabama through a tour of the Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham.Â
BAMA BASICS
BAMA BASICS provides student-athletes with an opportunity to learn and practice a variety of basic life skills, such as healthy food preparation or automotive care, through hands-on participation.
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is made up of representatives from all 17 sports teams, serving as the voice of all Alabama student-athletes in regards to enhancing their overall experience and well-being while at the Capstone.
