Life Skills - Community Service
The community outreach portion of the Life Skills program focuses on facilitating opportunities for student-athletes to engage in service on campus and in the surrounding areas. Through service initiatives, student-athletes develop personal skills and values that enhance individual growth, build relationship with members of the community, broaden their perspective and life view, while also improving the city of Tuscaloosa through various projects.

Annual Service Projects
Alberta Head Start Unity Project
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) with the support of Intercollegiate Athletics Administration, adopted Alberta Head Start as the focus of an on-going unity project. In addition to participation in programming, students and staff will engage and encourage the engagement of fans in supply drives and fundraising to support the needs of Alberta Head Start.
Habitat For Humanity
A partnership that forged in the aftermath of the 2011 tornado, student-athletes come together every year to improve the living conditions of Tuscaloosa residents by working hand-in-hand with this national organization.
Halloween Extravaganza
A community wide event hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) that provides kids and their families the chance to engage directly with student-athletes from all 17 sports teams through games and activities for a night of fun.
Project Angel Tree
For more than 25 years, Alabama Athletics sports teams and staff have partnered with Project Angel Tree to provide holiday cheer to children of incarcerated parents through monetary donations. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) helps to purchase and wrap the gifts for each child, and hosts a holiday party for the kids to enjoy.
Tide Moves
Student-athletes visit classrooms across the city to promote physical education and healthy lifestyles through activities with elementary aged youth.
