Moved into the starter role for the 2017 campaign, making 13 starts before being shut down near season's end with an injury ... finished 2-6 with a 5.69 ERA (39 ER/61.2 IP) and struck out 46 hitters compared to 19 walks allowed ... tied for the team lead in pickoffs with four as part of the Tide's league-leading 14 on the year ... made nine starts in SEC play, going 1-6 with a 7.65 ERA (36 ER/42.1 IP). Presbyterian (2/19): Made his first career start, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on three hits ... did not issue a walk and struck out four batters across his 57 pitches of work ... sat down the first 12 batters in order before running into trouble in the fifth inning ... did not factor into the decision as he exited the game with the score set at 2-2. Closed out his first season with the Tide ranked second in appearances (21) and innings pitched (28.1) out of the bullpen ... went 2-3 with three saves and registered 17 strikeouts compared to only six walks ... all three of his saves came across 2.0 or more innings of work. Maryland (2/20): Saw his first collegiate action, working 2.2 IP against the Terrapins, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout.
