Alabama Hoists Silver Medal on Day Two of the SEC Championships

The UA women’s 200 medley relay team recorded a season-best performance to finish second in the event
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A silver-medal performance from the Alabama women's 200 medley relay team paced the Crimson Tide on the second day of the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
With a season-best performance of 1:33.63, the women's 200 medley relay team of Emily Jones, Jada Scott, Tessa Giele and Cadence Vincent earned the Tide's first podium appearance of the meet.
After the second day of events, the Crimson Tide men (136 points) and women (133 points) are both in eighth place with 136 and 133 points.

- The women's 200 medley relay team dropped 0.71 seconds off its entry time to earn a second-place finish and surpass the prior meet record (1:33.84) set by Texas last year
- In the 800 freestyle relay, Vincent's opening 200 freestyle split time of 1:44.19 moved her to third all-time in program history as she improved her prior career-best swim by over a second and a half
- Tommy Hagar also posted a career-best mark as the leadoff swimmer in the men's 800 free relay, moving to fifth all-time in program history with a 1:33.15
- Mackenzie Brandt secured a top-eight finish, using a career-best 16:12.50 to place seventh in the mile
- Brandt's time improved her personal-best performance by nearly two seconds, advancing her to fourth on UA's all-time top-10 list
- Joao Pierre de Gruttola Campos recorded a career-best 14:59.46 in the mile to move to 10th all-time in program history
- The men's 200 medley relay team of Tommy Hagar, Noah Saylor, Sean Niewold and Tim Korstanje clocked a season-best 1:23.78 to place ninth overall
- Both 800 free relay teams scored points for the Tide as the men's team of Tommy Hagar, Leonardo Alcantara, Caio Rocha Ribeiro da Silva, Adam Varga placed sixth (6:14.14) and the women's team of Cadence Vincent, Ella Jones, Emma Sundermeyer, Mackenzie Brandt recorded an eighth-place finish (7:04.64)
