
Blackhurst, Bell Named to SEC Community Service

The UA swimmers paced the Crimson Tide in community service hours
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimmers Sydney Blackhurst and Drayden Bell were named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team, the league office announced Monday.
Blackhurst and Bell led the Crimson Tide in service hours as the two were active in the community throughout the season.
Sydney Blackhurst
- Paced the Tide in community service hours, tallying over 400 hours this year alongside her non-profit Beyond Barriers Swim Foundation
- The non-profit specializes in one-on-one adaptive swimming lessons designed to meet the needs of children with disabilities and chronic illnesses
- As the founder, Blackhurst has served over 50 participants
- Also assisted with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build a house for someone in need within the community
Drayden Bell
- Visited an elementary school class once a month as a part of Tide Moves, an initiative designed to help convey the importance of physical activity
- Helped with Stepping Back into School, where he provided essentials and supplies to young kids
- Assisted at the 2025 SEC Football Media Days, helping with distribution of credentials for media personnel while also aiding with press conferences
- Helped at the DCH's Cancer Center, where he visited and talked with patients undergoing cancer treatment
- Served as an usher at the Church of the Highlands
