
Men’s Basketball Faces Arizona in the C.M. Newton Classic

The Crimson Tide will play the Wildcats in the fifth annual C.M. Newton Classic
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball program, along with Knight Eady, announced the matchup for the 2025 C.M. Newton Classic presented by TriGreen Equipment. This year's event will feature the Crimson Tide and national powerhouse Arizona in Birmingham, Ala., for the fifth annual event which will be played on Saturday, Dec. 13 inside Legacy Arena.
"We are excited to return to Birmingham and face one of the premier programs in the country in Arizona," Nate Oats said. "The C.M. Newton Classic provides an amazing atmosphere and we are looking forward to playing in front of Tides fans while honoring Coach Newton's legacy and the impact he made on the University of Alabama and our sport."

The C.M. Newton Classic Matchup
- Over the last five seasons, both Alabama and Arizona have won 129 games, which is tied for seventh-most throughout Division I
- Alabama is 3-2 all-time against Arizona, having last met in the Hall of Fame Series in Phoenix, Ariz. (Arizona defeated Alabama 87-74) during the 2023-24 season
- Arizona finished the 2024-25 season with a 24-13 record and an appearance in the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament
- In four seasons at Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd has led the Wildcats to a 112-33 record and three Sweet 16 appearances
- The neutral-site game, now in its fifth year, is named in honor of Hall of Famer and former longtime Alabama basketball head coach C.M. Newton.
- During his 12 seasons at Alabama, Newton led the Tide to a 221-123 record, won three straight SEC Conference titles (1974-1976) and made two NCAA Tournament appearances
