TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Matic Kriznik won the UTR Pro Tennis Tournament, hosted at the Alabama Tennis Stadium on Sunday, with a straight-set victory.
In an all-Alabama final, Kriznik defeated recent Crimson Tide graduate Enzo Aguiard. Kriznik and Aguiard competed in a 31-person field that also included Alabama players Andrii Zimnokh and Brendan Loh.
From Head Coach George Husack
"Great event to kick off the summer. UTR has done an outstanding job of getting their platform on college campuses and the impact is noticeable. Tournaments are everywhere, week after week, which allows players to get the competition they need during the break. Five guaranteed matches this week for our guys is invaluable and to compete at home is special too. Congrats to Matic for his solid play from start to finish. His confidence grew from match-to-match, which is what we saw this season from him. Now it's onto the next tournament and more opportunities to get better."
